The Nuclear Age Begins
At the end of World War II Nazi Germany surrendered to the United States leaving the last world superpower, Japan, fighting in the war. After Japanese leaders rejected the Potsdam Declaration President Truman authorized use of the atomic bomb anytime after August 3, 1945. "Little Boy" was dropped on Hiroshima on the morning of August 6, 1945 and the second atomic bomb "Fat Man" was dropped over Nagasaki on August 9, 1945.
Thesis
The Invention of the atomic bomb was revolutionary and were the first nuclear weapons ever used. They were first used in World War II when dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which brought a quick end to the war, causing Japan to finally surrender. It saved many lives that would have been lost if the war had continued.
